Dale R. Shull

Dale Ray Shull, 63, departed this life on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in St. Louis, MO after a long illness.

Dale was born on June 5, 1952 at the Army Hospital in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO while his father, V.A. Shull, Jr. was serving with the U.S. Coast Guard. The family lived in Detroit MI until V.A. was discharged, by this time V.A. and Daisy had another son, Terri Jay and the move was made back to Ava, MO in 1954.


Dale graduated from Ava High School in 1970. He recieved both a Bachelors and a Masters degree from the Missouri University of Science and Technology
(formerly UMR) in Rolla, MO. He served with the U.S. Navy as an engineer from 1976 to 1982 and was stationed in Virginia, Iceland and Guam. Dale has worked as a computer scientist for the Boeing Company for over 30 years.

Dale was preceded in death by his grandparents, Verness and Edna (Ray) Shull, Ava, MO and Clarence and Lila (Standley) Barton, Mansfield, MO and a nephew, Dillon State, Salt Lake City, UT.


He is survived by his wife, Gerrie Fletcher, Chesterfield, MO, a daughter, Amber Wilson (Seth) and a granddaughter, Pepper, Kansas City, MO, his parents, V.A. and Daisy (Barton) Shull, Ava, MO, a brother, Terri Shull, West Plains, MO, and a sister, Cindy Shull, Willard, MO. Dale leaves behind many other family members and friends.

Dale and Gerrie loved the warm sand and beaches of Sanibel, FL and made many trips to the island over the years.

Dale wishes to leave a scholarship to the Missouri University of Science and Technology for female engineers. Donations may be made to a memorial that has been set up in his name at First Home Bank.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. in the Ava Cemetery with Full Military Honors by Troy Herd American Legion Post # 112 and U.S. Navy Detail. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn.
