Dale Dean Snell, 80

Dale Dean Snell, 80, of Wasola, MO, died May 4, 2011 in Gainesville. He was born on August 21, 1930 in Ft. Laramie, WY. He was the son of Ernest and Rose Morgan Snell. He married his wife of 60 years, Emogene Nance, on January 22, 1951 in Mt. Home, AR.


After graduating from Gainesville High School, Mr. Snell was a lifelong resident of Wasola except for a few years where he and his wife lived in Wichita, KS and he worked at Cessna and Boeing. Mr. Snell and his wife lived and worked on their farm in Wasola until retirement. In addition to farming, he also worked road construction for many years, owned and operated a bulldozer, welded and built various machinery, and helped to build several homes.

Mr. Snell also loved to play several musical instruments; he loved to fish and hunt, help others when in need, and spend time with his family. He was baptized at an early age and was a member of Barren Fork Church of Christ.

Mr. Snell is survived by his wife Emogene; one son, Clarence Wayne Snell and wife Kathy of Wasola; two daughters, Cindy Taylor of Wasola and Charlotte Dickson of Foristell; five grandchildren, Melissa Massey of Ava, Brandi Miller of Gainesville, Caleb Dickson of Columbus, GA, Miranda Hambelton of Wasola, and Chance Snell of Gainesville; and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Rose Snell; his brother, Eugene Snell; his sister, Esther Herndon; and his granddaughter, Myra Taylor.

Funeral services for Mr. Snell will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Burial will be in the Loftis Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to service time. Memorial donations may be made to the Loftis Cemetery, to the family as a love offering, or to a charity of your choice.
