Dan Wilbur Dobbins, 101 years, passed to Heaven on July 23, 2014 at his home in Ava.
Dan was born June 24, 1913 in Santa Rosa, New Mexico to Harrison and Myrtle (Light) Dobbins.
Dan was employed by International Harvester for 26 years in the Moline, IL area and also worked in construction. He retired in the Ava area to farm.
He was a Christian and a member of the General Baptist Church.
Dan and Inez Rowe were united in marriage and to this union three children were born, "Pat" Dan, Jr., Annalee and Jerry. Later on he was united in marriage to Geneva Pettijohn Cook and to this union two children were born, Mary and Ralph D.
Dan loved being with people and especially children brought him joy. He never knew a stranger. His hobbies were fishing and going out to eat.
He loved working on his farm with his cattle and horses up until he was 96 years of age.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Dan "Pat" Jr. and Jerry Dobbins, one grandson, Jimmy Pratt, one granddaughter, Dana Shonts, one brother, John Dobbins and one sister, Bessie Banta.
Dan is survived by his three children, Annalee Pratt & husband, George, Springfield, MO, Ralph Dobbins, Douglas, AZ and Mary Ziegler & husband, Larry, East Moline, IL, 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Dan will be Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn.
