DANIEL JOSEPH MORGAN
Dan Morgan, 63, of Sycamore, MO passed to heaven on August 30, 2012 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on September 10, 1948 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Joe and Alice (Louton) Morgan.
Dan's family moved to Pontiac, MO from St. Louis in 1953 and built Indian Point Lodge. In addition to running the resort, they also operated Green Trees Café (now Just Jackie's) in 1963 and 1964. In 1964 they acquired Pontiac Boat Dock. Dan was very involved in the business except for his time in the Navy from 1966 to 1969. He became one of the lake's first salvage divers. Diver Dan as he was called, left the marina business in 1978 and started Morgan Construction which he operated along with his real passion, Spring Hollow Farm. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends.
On August 4, 1975, Dan was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joyce, in Pontiac, MO and the couple have enjoyed a wonderful 37 years together.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Alice Morgan; one daughter Rebecca Jo Morgan; one brother-in-law Lanny Clatt; and #26. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home in Sycamore; his children Brad Morgan and wife Sara of Atkins, IA, Stephen Morgan and wife Tracy of Jupiter, FL, Brian Morgan and wife Nikki of Gainesville, MO, Beth Strong and husband Jeff of Dora, MO and Joe Morgan and Kristen Guzik of Tecumseh, MO; grandchildren Danielle Toyne and husband Jesse, Emily Morgan, Kaitlyn & Brock Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Garrett & Katelyn Eichler, Brittany, Tristan, Shelby and Kelsey Strong, Austin Eslinger, Taylor, D.J. & Makayla, Levi Whisnant, and Brook Bible; one great grandchild Haven Bible; one brother Tim Morgan and wife Johnna of Pontiac, MO; brother-in-law John Fry and wife Betty; sisters-in-law Mary Clatt and Cathy Seats and husband Darrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 3, 2012 at the St. William's Catholic Church in Gainesville, MO with Father Joe Weidenbenner officiating. Burial will follow in the Price Place Cemetery south of Pontiac, MO. Visitation will be Sunday, September 2nd from 4-6 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville, MO.
