Daniel Frederick Cary

Daniel F. Cary was born April 22, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio to the late William W. and Kathleen E. (McGillicuddy) Cary and departed this life at the Gainesville Health Care Center on Feb 14, 2012.

He grew up in Wilmore, KY and attended Asbury College, interrupting his studies to enlist in the military during World War II. He received a commission as second Lieutenant in November 1944, served as a combat navigator on the B-17 Flying Fortress in the 8th Air Force in Europe and was separated from active service in August 1946. While in Europe he witnessed part of the Nuremburg trials and was involved with the Ruby Project. After the war he returned to Asbury College, graduating in 1948 with a degree in history.

Dan worked in the insurance business in Canada and the U.S. He married Ruth A. (McLean) Cary of Toronto in 1971. He was ordained as a minister and then founded the Christian Conduit in 1979. Together they served in Christian ministry in Lake Placid, NY; Saratoga Springs, NY; and then Theodosia, MO. They shared the Gospel thru radio, TV, & home meetings.

Dan authored a book; The Imperative, Autumn 1945. It was a fictional story with a Christian message, set at the conclusion of the war.

He was a resident of Taney County for 17 years.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth, sister Doris Cary and brother Bill Cary.

Dan is survived by one niece, June Reid, and two nephews, Philip Cary and Robert Cary. Also Mitch & Nancy Jakusz who were saved under his ministry and worked with him for 30 years.
