DARRELL LYNN HANKS

Darrell Lynn Hanks, 71, of Mountain Home, AR, passed away on May 5, 2012 at the Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House. He was born on November 25, 1940 in Paducah, TX the son of Buster and Ila (Slaton) Hanks.
Darrell graduated from Hobbs High School in Hobbs, NM where he excelled, not only in the classroom, but on the football field as well. He went on to play football in college for McMurry University in Abilene, TX. Darrell lived and worked in Texas and New Mexico for many years and even owned his own Gasket Company before moving to Mountain Home, AR in 1996 and purchasing Sealco Manufacturing. He and his wife, Charlotte, still own and operate the business.

Darrell was united in marriage to Charlotte (Coatney) on February 5, 1972 in Seminole, TX and the two have enjoyed a wonderful 40 years together. Darrell loved the outdoors. He enjoyed golfing with all his buddies in Mountain Home and taking hunting and fishing trips all over the country. He just recently got back from a trip to Texas. Darrell was a life time member of the NRA. He was also an avid woodcarver. Darrell was a Christian and attended church at the Assembly of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Jason Hanks. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of the home; two children Dawn Sims and her husband David of Hobbs, NM and Darrell Lynn Hanks and wife Kathy of Odessa, TX; two step children Regina Demoncore of Mountain Home, AR and Shane Johnson of Hobbs, NM; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother Hershel Lee Hanks and wife Judy of Garland, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services for Darrell will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Chapel, Gainesville, MO with Bill Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery, north of Gainesville. Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon from 1 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
