Darrell Wayne Lakey, 78 years, went to be with his Lord on March 5, 2012 at his home with his family by his side.



Darrell was born August 11, 1933 in Coldsprings, MO to Guy and Lola (Hutchison) Lakey.



Darrell lived most of his life in Douglas County. On April 23, 1966 Darrell and Patsy Coy were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union two children were born. He loved farming and being with his kids working on the farm. Darrell adored and loved his grandchildren and delighted in living close to them.



Darrell loved the Lord and attended the First Southern Baptist Church in Ava. He enjoyed reading his Bible.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Louise Porter and Marian Smith, three brothers, Narvel, Harold and Gilbert Basil Lakey.


Darrell is survived by his wife, Patsy Lakey, Ava, MO, two children, Janell Voliva & husband, Rick, Forsyth, MO, Brent Lakey & wife, Jennifer, Ava, MO, two grandchildren, Matthew and Morgan Lakey, two brothers and their spouses, Elwood & Judy Lakey, Marvin & Jean Lakey, one sister & husband, Sue & Cap Porter all of Ava, MO, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.



Funeral services for Darrell will be Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Maples. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
