Golding
October 20, 1930 – October 1, 2019
Daryl L. Golding
1930-2019
Daryl Lyle Golding, 88 years and 11 months old passed into Glory on October 1, 2019 at Aurora Nursing Center.
Daryl was born October 20, 1930 in Stratton, Nebraska, the fourth of eight children born to Ivan Henry and Josie Wilma ( Journey) Golding.
He married Shirley Brown on December 30, 1950 in Harrison Arkansas, and to this union were born Stephen, Rebecca, and Timothy Golding.
Daryle was US Marine Corps Veteran who served in the Korean War.
Daryl attended University of Columbia (MU), and later graduated from NE Missouri State College in Kirksville, MO. He majored in agriculture science and minored in biology. While attending MU, he worked as Sanitarian & Health Educator for the MO State Dept. of Health, while working part-time farming, and still made time to enjoy his little ones! He later attended Truman State College and graduated with a BS Degree in Public Health Education & Administration.
At the age of 27 Daryl answered the Lord's call into the ministry and served as pastor of Kellogg Mission, Macon, Mo. Mt. Pleasant Mission, Buffalo, MO. 1st Baptist Church, Ava, Mo. Upon retirement from the ministry Daryl served as hospital administrator for Cameron Community Hospital, Cameron, Mo. and later for Pinal General Hospital in Florence, AZ. Daryl tried to "retire" more than once. It wasn't in his nature.
Very shortly after celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary with Shirley, she passed away and Daryl was alone. But Daryl was a people person, and he threw his energies into his family. His visits were always exciting events for all of us. He was the world's best PawPaw, Poppy, Pal, and Great Paw to his grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids!
In 2002 Daryl met & married Annie Gassaway and life began again! They had a beautiful marriage full of friendship, laughter, traveling and enjoying life together. They moved into assisted living together and from there, his Annie passed on to Heaven ahead of Daryl. He was alone again, but this time he had "his girls" at Hudson House assisted living who rallied around him, comforted him,and genuinely loved and cared for his as their own. Because of them we never had to leave Daddy lonely, and for that, his children are forever grateful! You ladies will always be dear to our hearts.
Daryl was a member of Aurora Baptist Temple. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his family, and his church and he demonstrated it loud and clear! He was a people magnet - especially babies and little ones, who recognized Jesus in him. He was always the most interesting and likeable guy in the place and truly a joy to be around. He liked to garden, was skilled at cross stitch, but most of all he enjoyed hunting rocks, cutting and polishing rocks, gems, and fossils, and creating jewelry with them. He truly appreciated God's handiwork.
Daryl was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ivan & Josie, his wife, Shirley, his brothers, Jim Dale, Wes and Doc, and his sister, Joy, his grandson, Bobby, and later , his wife Annie Golding. Daryle is survived by his children, Steve Golding and wife Joanne of Parker, Arizona, Becky Golding of Independence, Missouri, and Tim Golding and wife Janese of Hannibal, Missouri, best friend & step-son, Walt Gassaway of Aurora, Missouri, and step-daughter Wanda Johnston of Lake Winnebago, Missouri, 2 sisters, Wanda Malone and Danna Carter, plus 7 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Daryl loved God first, then his fellow man. He was renowned for his playing and teasing, which he did up to the last moments of his life on earth. The man never forgot how to play. He loved to laugh and he loved you all.
