David Lee Guthery

David Lee Guthery, 57 years, 8 months, 3 days old, passed away on May 18, 2018 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO with his family by his side.

Lee was born September 15, 1960 in Springfield, MO to Damon Earl and Gola Maxine (Davis) Guthery.

Lee was owner of DLS Gifts in Seymour, a Farmer, Carpenter, and Scuba Instructor.  He was a 1978 Ava High School Graduate.

On July 12, 1980 Lee and Lisa Gladue were united in marriage at his parents'  home in Ava, MO and they were blessed with one daughter, Shalyn.

Lee was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church. He enjoyed his cattle and donkey, his cat Seven-Up, genealogy of his family and others.  He had a love for photography including taking pictures of wildlife, landscapes, and underwater marine life. Lee's joy was helping his church in several ways, remodeling houses, and being active with the local Historical Committee, and the Seymour Apple Festival. He loved bringing his mother flowers. Lee had a servant's heart and will be greatly missed.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, Damon, and a brother, Denzil.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa, Seymour, MO, a daughter, Shalyn Guthery and Jordan Nystrom, Des Moines, IA, his mother, Maxine Rosseau, Ava, MO, two sisters, Anna Guthery, Monett, MO, and Janie Guthery, Miller, MO, nieces and nephews, Daniel, Jamie, Sarah, Christopher, L.D., Amanda, John, Laura, Tia, and Mary, several other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services for Lee will be Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial of his cremains following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Sat. from 10:00 a.m. to service time. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn, Pastor Ron Brown, and Pastor Wally Jones. Memorials may be made to the Seymour United Methodist Church Children's Ministry, P.O. Box 584, Seymour, MO 65746. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
