Delbert Scrivner
Mansfield, Missouri
Delbert Lowell Scrivner, 83 years, 29 days old, passed away on October 8, 2026 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
Delbert was born on September 9, 1943, in Douglas County, Missouri, to Orval and Virginia (Abercrombie) Scrivner. He grew up in the Ava community and graduated from Ava High School. After graduating from high school, Delbert attended College of the Ozarks (University of the Ozarks) in Clarksville, Arkansas. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree.
Delbert enlisted and served his country in the U.S. Navy and Marines as a Medical Corpsman during the Vietnam War. He served honorably.
Delbert and Kay Fisher were united in marriage on December 21, 1979, in Kirbyville, Missouri. Together they had two sons, David and James.
He worked for the City of Mansfield for 45 years in various roles, concluding with water and wastewater operator. Delbert also worked and maintained the family farm he grew up on. He was a Christian, and he and Kay attended the Church of the Nazarene in Mansfield, Missouri together.
Delbert enjoyed bluegrass and old time music. He attended the McClurg Jam every Monday evening to enjoy the fellowship, music, and good food. In addition, he loved fishing, gardening, football, and a good bargain. Delbert was known for growing daffodils along the country road beside his farm. His joy was visiting and laughing with anyone who would listen.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Lee Roy Scrivner, Larry Wayne Scrivner, Norval James Scrivner, and Dee Ray Scrivner.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; his sons, David Scrivner of Springfield, Missouri, and James Scrivner and Angel of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; grandchildren, Brayden and Dayden Hensley; one brother, Jerry and Carolyn Scrivner; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Scrivner and Thelma Scrivner; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
Private family graveside services for Delbert will be Friday, October 16, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at the Huffman Cemetery #2, County Road 510, Ava, Missouri, with Pastor Justin Colston officiating. Visitation for the public will be Friday, October 16, from 12:30 P.M. to 1:30 P.M., at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. The family requests memorials to Huffman Cemetery #2.
