Dennis Neale Schilling, son of the late Paul Schilling and Ruby Adams of
Phoenix. AZ, was born on July 5. 1938 in Chester. IL. He departed this life on
Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2007 at his home south of Mountain Grove,
MO, following a long battle with Atypical Alzheimer's. He was 69 years. 4
months and 17 days old.
Dennis spent the first 13 years of his life in Chester, IL. His family and he then moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he spent the next 27 years. He joined the Marines to serve his country in 1956 and received an honorable discharge in 1960. It was during this time he met the "love of his life", Lillian (Lil) Archibald. They were married on January 22. 1961. Two sons and one daughter were born to this union. Dennis was employed as one of 420 deputy sheriffs of Maricopa County of Arizona for several years and then worked as a counselor at a youth facility for emotional and disturbed teenage boys. He also owned and operated the Glendale Awning Company in Phoenix. AZ.
From a teenager on, Dennis had a natural ability when it came to livestock. His life-long dream was to some day own his own Ranch. This was accomplished in 1978 when his family and he moved to the Mountain Grove area where he spent the rest of his life. The Schilling Ranch ran a dairy for several years and then raised longhorn cattle that were used for numerous rodeo-type activities.
Dennis accepted his Lord and Savior at the age of 23. He shared his Lord in many different ways, mainly by helping and serving others. He never put himself first no matter what situation arose during his life. He attended Calvary Temple Church in Mountain Grove.
He is survived b his wife of 46 years and 10 months. Lil Schilling, of the home in Mountain Grove. MO: three children. Denny Schilling and his friend Debra, Denise Schaefer and her husband Stephen, and Donny Schilling and his wife Jennifer, all of Mountain Grove, MO; his mother, Ruby Adams of Phoenix. AZ; ten grandchildren, Austyn Ellison and her husband Josh of Cabool, MO, Rusty and Cody Schilling, Stephanie, Joshua, Caleb, Jared and Joseph (Joey) Schaefer, and John and David Schilling, all of Mountain Grove, MO; three great-grandchildren, Katlynn, Jakob and Kile of Cabool. MO; one sister, Geraine Lowe and her husband Fred of Kingman, AZ; three brothers, Gary Schilling and his wife Bonnie, Randy Schilling and his wife Janet, and Don Schilling and his wife Marla, all of Phoenix. AZ; sister-in-law Lani Kehler and her husband Wayne, of Mountain Grove, MO; brother-in-law Roger Archibald and sister-in- law Donna VonTietz and her husband Gerald of Phoenix, AZ, and numerous other relatives and friends that will really miss him.
Dennis' dream now is that all of his relatives have, or will, accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior so they can join him in heaven when their life here on earth is completed. May his final dream come true!
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., December 1, 2007 at Calvary Temple Church in Mountain Grove. Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Ava, MO is honored to serve the Schilling family.
