Deward "Dewey" William Turner

Squires, Missouri

Deward "Dewey" William Turner, 77 years, 3 months, and 6 days old, passed away on January 22, 2024 at home with his wife by his side.

Dewey was born October 16, 1946 in Spring Creek, Missouri to Claude and Ollie (DeGase) Turner.

Dewey and Marcy Monteleone were united in marriage on May 24, 1975 at the Gentry Church in Ava, Missouri and to this union a son was born.

If you knew Dewey, then you know he never met a stranger.  Dewey was a pioneer in many things, but the greatest thing was the term "Brother".  Dewey made "Brother" cool and most of us will always remember being called "Brother".

Dewey enjoyed the outdoors from chasing white bass, treeing coons and squirrels to calling in varmits or fishing at the pothole.  He also enjoyed playing pool and picking a tune on the guitar. He enjoyed them all with his wife, his son, his grandsons and many friends.

Dewey wore many hats throughout his life. Early in life he joined the Army at Fort Hood, Texas with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 46th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division where he earned the Expert Rifle Badge and the National Defense Service Medal. After the Army, he worked as a long haul truck driver, gas man, oil and gas pumper, heavy equipment operator and many years at the Douglas County Road Department where he retired.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eldon and Johnny; and sisters, Doris, Geneva, Fern, Fay, and Dicie.

Dewey leaves to mourn in his passing, his wife, Marcy Turner of the home; son, Matt Turner and wife, Nikki; grandson, Dillon and wife, Brett of Pierre, South Dakota, grandson, Jordan of Mtn. Home, Arkansas, and grandson, Kamden of Salem, Arkansas; sister, DeEtta Atherton of Ava, Missouri; sister-in-law, Carrie Burkdoll of Ava, Missouri; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Dewey was loved by his wife, son, grandsons, relatives and many friends.
