Obituary

Doin Pitchford was born in Gainesville, MO on July 7, 1921 to the home of Will and Ethel Pitchford. He passed away from this life in Hospice House in Mountain Home, AR on May 29, 2008 following a lengthy illness. He had reached the age of 86 years.

He married Lozell Hamilton March 1, 1941 in Ava, MO. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. To this union was born 6 children. He was a devoted husband and father.

Doin spent most of his adult life in the ministry for churches of Christ serving in 11 different states. This dedication to the service of the Lord produced many preachers, elders, and deacons for the church of Christ. His hobby was fishing, but his heart was "fishing for men."

Doin was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lloyd, one sister- Gail Standage, and one son, John.

He is survived by his wife Lozell of Mountain Home, AR, his sister, Norma Cobb, his sons Larry and wife Gail of Galena, MO, Gary and wife Sandy of Galena, MO, Dave and wife Sandra of Mountain Home, AR, Jim and wife Taime of Emporia, KS, and daughter Kathy and husband Clayton King of LaJunta, CO. He had 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Doin Pitchford Memorial Scholarship Fund for Young Preachers at Crowley Ridge College in Paragould, AR.

Funeral service for Doin Pitchford will be Monday, June 2, 2008, 2:00PM at the Gainesville Church of Christ with Halbert Smith and Ken Burton officiating. Interment will follow in Ball Cemetery, Dora, MO. Visitation is Sunday afternoon 2:30 til 4:30 PM at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
