Donald Joseph "Joe" Breshears

Ava, MO

Donald Joseph Breshears, 71 years, passed to heaven on November 13, 2010 at his home with his family by his side.

Joe was born August 30, 1939 in Ava, MO to Gilbert and Velma (Hylton) Breshears. He graduated from Ava High School.

On May 28, 1960 Joe and Christine Lupton were united in marriage in Grandview, MO and to this union five children were born.

Joe was retired and had worked various jobs. He worked first at B&B Freight Lines in OK, then Dayton Rubber in Springfield, MO and later Emerson Plant and Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava, MO. He also drove a feed truck for Heath & Son and was a substitute postal carrier for Rogersville and Ava, MO. Joe and Christine also ran a dairy farm for several years near Goodhope.

Joe was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Girdner Church. Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling with his family to Colorado. Joe especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved reading his Bible and going to church with Christine.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jimmy Breshears, a great granddaughter, Addison Breshears, a brother, Bill Breshears and a sister, Karen Paxton.


Joe is survived by his wife, Christine Breshears, Ava, MO, four children and their spouses, Joe Allen & Carol Breshears, Terry & Missy Breshears, Robert & Kathy Breshears all of Ava, MO and Pam & J.D. Price, Wasola, MO, 20 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three brothers, Ronnie & Nancy Breshears, Ramona, OK, Doyle & Danni Breshears, Clarimore, OK and Jack & Barbara Breshears, Ava, MO, sister-in-law, Jean Breshears, Kellyville, OK, brother-in-law, Wayne Paxton, Ava, MO, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Joe will be Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Girdner Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Dwight Wilson. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
