Donald Gale Osburn, 68 years, 10 months, 27days old, passed away on December 16, 2017 in his home in Ozark with his family by his side.
Gale, as everyone knew him, was born January 19, 1949 the son of Willie Augusta and Elsie Marie Cunningham Osburn in Homestead Holler near the Crossroads community of Douglas County.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a Military Police during his enlistment. On November 17, 1969,Wanda Hammons, the girl from over the hill and Gale were married at Union Grove Church and to this union a daughter, Angel Gail was born.
Gale enjoyed life and the simpler things in it, he was a striking figure on one of his Foxtrotting horses, fishing in the creeks and lakes and hunting in the local hills. In later years he could be found sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee every morning. Gale loved to attend his grandkids various activities they were involved in. Spreading God's word with his roll as a pastor for 40 years with the last 11 years pastoring at Union Grove Church, was something Gale took most seriously. Throughout his life Gale worked in maintance and security in area hospitals last working at Mercy in Springfield. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Gale is survived by his wife, Wanda, one daughter, Angel Gail and her husband, Matt Hartzell, and three grandchildren, Derric Christopher Lawrence Hartzell and wife Britany, Rachael Donelle Gail Hartzell, and Journee Mattison Grace Hartzell, a great grand daughter, Emiley, all of Ozark. He is also survived by a brother Melvin and wife Pat Osburn, of Ava, a sister, Norene Cline of Ozark, sister-in-laws, Sue Osburn of Ava and Sheila Gann of Sparta, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gale was preceded by his parents, brothers Bob and Ronnie, and father-in-law Lawrence Hammons.
Memorial services for Gale will be Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Grove Church, Crossroads MO with burial at Mills Cemetery with military honors by Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Visitation will start at 1:00 P.M. at the church. Officiating will be Pastor John Williams and Pastor James Orick. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
