Donald Gene Uchtman, 74, of Gainesville MO was born on March 28, 1946 in Clarkridge Arkansas. He was one of twelve children of William and Nellie Uchtman. In 1965 while working construction in Montana he was called to duty and served his country in Vietnam. He was severely injured in active duty and received a Purple Heart and was honorably discharged.
Donald returned home after his discharge from the war and continued to work construction for many years. While working construction he met his late wife, Virginia Pettit (Richey), of Isabella Missouri and became the father of 2 sons, Greg and Jeff Richey.
He is survived by two sons, Greg Richey and wife Ruthetta, Jeff Richey and wife Debbie; two granddaughters, Samantha Johnson and husband Will and Allison Richey; great-granddaughter, Maylee Johnson; and seven siblings, Francelene Cowart, Wilbern Uchtman, Gary Uchtman, Jewel Uchtman wife of BenJay, Twyla and husband Lynn Torrance, Lonnie and wife Beverly Uchtman, Doyle and wife Trena Uchtman, and Ricky Uchtman; wife, Patsy Koch Uchtman; and many nephews and nieces.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; William and Nellie Uchtman; brothers, Ernest, Lawrence, BenJay and Ronnie; and first wife, Virginia.
He spent many years in construction and also farmed in Ozark County, then he retired from Massman Construction as construction superintendent. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Theodosia Missouri. He was a Christian man and attended Lilly Ridge. He loved to travel with his wife, Patsy and their 2 dogs, they traveled all over the United States in an RV. He loved his family and doted on his grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in the Pontiac Cemetery, Pontiac, MO with Dale Roberts officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel, Gainesville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sampson Lodge #298 of Theodosia, MO or to Wounded Warriors. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
