Doris A. "Little Bit" Witchey, 78 years, passed away to her Heavenly home on March 1, 2015 at her home in Ava.
Doris was born December 7, 1936 in Strasburg, CO, to "Doc" and Billie (Kirk) Lohman.
Doris was a resident of the Ava community for many years.
On July 18, 1964 Doris and Loren Eugene "Gene" Witchey were united in marriage in Green Rock, IL and to this union two daughters were born.
Doris was a hard worker. She had worked as a cook at Blands, Lilie's, the Emerson cafeteria, Doris French's and Country Cottage.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Aventist Church in Ava.
Doris enjoyed visiting with people. She always looked on the brighter side of everything and always had a smile. She loved music and dancing. She enjoyed reading, gardening and tending to her flowers.
Doris was preceded by her parents, her husband, "Gene" in 2007, and a sister, Donnis Holt.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Vicki Shumate and husband, Gary, and Kim Fincher, all of Ava, her sister, June Brooks, Shawnee, KS, and brother, Ronnie, Lohman, OH, and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Funeral services for Doris will be Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial in the Whites Creek Cemetery just east of Ava. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Robert Roberts. Memorials may be made to the Whites Creek Cemetery.
