Doris Evelyn Cary

Doris E. Cary was born October 22, 1916 in Cinncinati, Ohio to the late
William W. and Kathleen E. (McGillicuddy) Cary and departed this life
at the Gainesville Health Care Center on Thursday, March 10, 2011.

Doris had a full life, receiving a BS from Asbury College in Social Sciences.
She took her nurses training at Christ Hospital passing her state board in 1940.
Doris served as a Medical Missionary in the Belgian Congo, for a period of 10 yrs.
She went on with her education after her missionary tour, earning a certificate of
Tropical Medicine, a Masters in Public Health at Tulane Univ. and a Masters
in Nursing Education at Indiana Univ. Doris' last job before retiring was Professor
of Nursing at Univ. of Kentucky, retiring as Professor Emeritus. With summers available,
Doris enjoyed traveling, taking family members on trips as well. She loved camping, looking
forward every year to attend Sychar Camp Meeting in Mt. Vernon, Ohio joining with other
family members.

Upon retiring in 1979 from UK, she joined with The Christian Conduit outreach and God's
calling of intercessory prayer. One desire Doris had for many years was to teach young
children and God fulfilled that desire, teaching Amy Jakusz 1st. through 8th grade. Amy has
since continued in the teaching profession with Doris' encouragement and support.

Preceding Doris in death is her parents, one brother W.W.Cary Jr., one nephew Richard Cary.
She is survived by her brother, Daniel F. Cary, 2 nephews Bob & Sue Cary of Canada,
Philip Cary and one niece Dennis and June Reid,and many relatives.

No local services are planned at this time. Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
