Mrs. Douglas passed away Friday, June 6th, at her home.

She was born December 3, 1921 at Mountain View, MO to William Henry "Pop" McGrath and Ivle Edna McGrath. Mrs. Douglas and her five sisters shared many experiences including riding the old red mule altogether, walking to school, & dating Barney who became the love of her life. Barney & Doris were married on June 18, 1943 and the happy couple started a family. After the birth of Sharon Ann Dennis, the family moved from St. Louis to West Plains, MO. Soon after, the family moved to Gainesville, MO. Allen Wayne Douglas was born and soon followed Deborah Sue Bodenhamer. Doris went to work at Johnson's Clothing Store where she did alterations for the customers. As time moved forward, she was blessed with five grandchildren, Bradley Gaddy, Paula & Patricia Bodenhamer, Jeffrey Douglas, & Jennifer Dabney. Grandma Douglas directed most of her energy to playing ball & doting on her grandchildren. She taught them to love board games & history. She loved to talk about the Civil War with them. She cooked every holiday for the entire family and was known for her homemade rolls and dressing. She cared for her grandkids when their parents were at work or play. She was known for her caring warm spirit and endless patience. Doris loved shopping, Eastern Star, tending to her flowers, and canning jelly. She was a devoted church member & volunteered many years at the library. She eventually welcomed five great-grandchildren, Finley Gaddy, Cooper High, Ethan Gaddy, Keaton Dabney, & Greyson Dabney. Her best friend later in life was her dog Spike and she loved spoiling him.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney, & her sisters, Esther Willbanks & Alice McDowell.

She is survived by her three sisters, Frances Owens, Zella Seats, and Lucille Sigler; daughter Sharon Dennis & husband Wendell, son Allen Douglas & wife Glenda, & Deborah Bodenhamer; grandchildren Bradley Gaddy, Paula Bodenhamer, Patricia Bodenhamer, Jeffrey Douglas, Jennifer Dabney & husband James; great-grandchildren Finley Gaddy, Cooper High, Ethan Gaddy, Keaton Dabney, & Greyson Dabney; and several nieces & nephews.
