Doris J. Hicks the daughter of Condie McKnight and Naomi (Barnes) McKnight was born Aug. 11, 1938 in Roy, MO and departed this life June 9, 2010 at the age of 71 years 9 months and 28 days.
Doris was a resident of Ava for the past 10 years moving here from Springfield, MO. On June 3, 1960 Doris and William C. Hicks were united in marriage in Miami, Ok, and spent 50 years together.
Doris graduated from Ava High School in l956. She was her father's daughter and loved taking care of family business and keeping house. She was employed as a bookkeeper in the banking industry working in Florida and in Mansfield, MO., after retirement she helped her folks run the McKnight's Store at Roy.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, William, Ava, MO, two sons, Kent Hicks, Ava, MO, Marc Hicks, Warrensburg, MO, one daughter, Leslie Vermilio and husband, Randy, Deltona, FL, three grandsons, Michael, David and Jeremy, two great grandchildren, Jacob and Grace, one brother, Robert and Betty McKnight, Bedford, TX and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Doris will be10:00 A.M., Monday, June 14, 2010 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ava Cemetery.
