Obituary

DOROTHY BLACKBURN

Dorothy Evangeline Blackburn of Gainesville, Missouri went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 15, 2007 at the Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas surrounded by family and friends. She was the beloved mother of three sons and five daughters; Bob Blackburn and his wife Annie of Tecumseh, Missouri, Jim Blackburn and his wife Janice of West Plains, Missouri, Jack Blackburn and his ex wife Jackie Klineline of Pontiac, Missouri, Pat Hammond of West Plains, Missouri, Kathy Snell and her husband Clarence of Gainesville, Missouri, Linda Blackburn of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Nancy Blackburn of Gainesville, Missouri.

She is survived by six grandsons; Walker Blackburn and his wife Beth Ann of Gainesville, Missouri, Gabe Blackburn and his wife Jessica of Pontiac, Missouri, Matt Trent and his wife Sarah of Dawt, Missouri, Nace House and his wife Crystal of Gainesville, Missouri, Chance Snell of Gainesville, Missouri and Zach Blackburn of Gainesville, Missouri. She is also survived by five grand daughters; Frances Blackburn of St. Charles, Missouri, Nicole Blackburn and her husband James of St. Charles, Missouri, Patty Ingalls and her husband Richard of West Plains, Missouri, Casey Smith and her husband Sean of West Plains, Missouri, Brandi Miller and her husband Larry of Gainesville, Missouri. She is survived by many great grandchildren, and by her beloved caregiver and friend Nellie Davenport of the home, and many other friends and relatives.
Dorothy preceded in death by her husband Flay Blackburn, a daughter Cindy Blackburn, her parents Bob and Daisy Crider and two brothers and three sisters.
She was s graduate of Drury College in Springfield, Missouri and taught in the Head Start system in Gainesville, Missouri, in the Lutie Public Schools, and the Gainesville Public Schools. She was referred to by many of her friends and students as "Miss Dot".

Services were conducted at the Gainesville Church of Christ on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 and burial was at Clear Springs Cemetery in Dawt, Missouri. Pallbearers were Walker Blackburn, Gabe Blackburn, Matt Trent, Zach Blackburn, Chance Snell, and Nace House. Honorary Pallbearers were James Blackburn, Richard Ingalls, Larry Miller, Sean Smith, Skeeter Stevens, Dick House, Larry House, Don Rackley, and Trevor Hicks.
