Dorothy Olive Burton, 92 years, 7 months, 26 days old, passed away on May 14, 2017 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with her loving family by her side.
Dorothy was born September 19, 1924 in Roy, MO to Homer William and Amy Ellen (Sanders) Rosseau.
On July 23, 1949 Dorothy and James "Jim" Henry Burton were united in marriage in Reno, Nevada. To this union they were blessed with six children.
Dorothy was a Christian and had attended the Ava General Baptist Church. She was a member of the Nubbin Ridge Extension Club and a lifetime member of the Ava Art Guild. Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker and quite a seamstress. She was a gifted artist and quilter. For many years she had a quilt shop on the square in Ava. Dorothy's joy was cooking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping, and visiting. She loved German shepherds. She bred them for many years and always had one as a pet. Dorothy was the center of her family and everything and anyone she touched flourished.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim in 2000, three sisters, Velma Cross, Elva Mathews, and Goldie Sutherland, and one brother, Norman Rosseau.
Dorothy is survived by six children and their spouses, Michael & Paula Burton, Ava, MO, Stephen & Angela Burton, Champaign, IL, Timothy & Loretta Burton, Mansfield, MO, Daniel & Dawn Burton, Ava, MO, Polly & Michael Schoonmaker, Ava, MO, and Vicki & Jeff Glenn, Tallahassee, FL, eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one great grandson on the way, her siblings, Delmar & Margaret Rosseau, Delphia & Ray Roller, and Marvin & Coralee Rosseau, sister-in-law, Maxine Rosseau, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn and Chaplain Jeff Smith.
