Dorothy Mae Howerton, daughter of Virgil Horner and Maggie (Chapman) Horner was born October 8th , 1930 and passed on October 10th, 2008 at the age of 78 years.

Dorothy was a life long resident of the Ava area. Dorothy was employed with White River Electric for 47 years and also prepared Taxes. In 1969 she and Mr. Harold Howerton were united in marriage in Ava, MO. Dorothy loved flower gardening, going to garage sales and auctions and helping others. Dorothy was on the Ava Housing Authority Board for several years. She loved going on hunting trips with her husband, Harold, to Colorado. She loved life and her family. Dorothy was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, and one sister. She is survived by a sister, Thelma Collier and her husband, Noah, Bartonville, IL, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with the Rev. John Haskins and Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, MO. Visitation will be Thursday, 6 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Neighbor Helping Neighbor.
