Dorothy Mae Humphrey, 81 years passed away on January 1, 2013 at her home.
Dorothy was born May 22, 1931 in Urania, LA to Thomas W. and Laura (Hayes) Gilmore.
Dorothy was a homemaker and resident of the Ava community for several years moving from California. On December 22, 1980 Dorothy and Sherman E. Humphrey were united in marriage in Rio Dell, CA. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, fishing and spending time with family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sherman in 2009, one son, Charles Wilkes, one brother and one sister.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Laura & Allen Edwards, Ava, MO, Rita Peppers, Olla, LA, Danny & Sharold Stevens, and Lenore Stevens, Rio Dell, CA, five step children, Linda Brooks, Fort Bragg, CA, "Junior" Humphrey, Shasta Lake, CA, Sherry Humphrey, Clear Lake, CA, Sheila McCarty, Clear Lake, CA and Leslie Humphrey, Rogers, AR, numerous grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren,three brothers, Terry, Shawn and Herb, four sisters, Midge, Paula, Sue and Joy and other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Dorothy will be Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Arno Cemetery, Ava, MO. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn.
