Dorothy L. Ruston, daughter of James Walter Ward and Mattie Alice Fisher Ward was born on Sept. 6, 1931 in Lauderdale County, Tennessee and passed away on Sept. 17, 2007 in her home in Ava, MO at the age of 76 years and 11 days.

Dorothy was a homemaker and lived in Ava for the past six years moving from Las Vegas, NV. She grew up in Halls, Tennessee. Dorothy was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ in the Halls area. On Feb. 3, 1957 Dorothy and John Ruston were united in marriage in Chicago, IL and to this union seven children were born. Dorothy enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the birds. She loved being with her family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Paul & Emmett, one sister, Roberta and one son, Jerry Ruston.
Her survivors include six children and their spouses, Roger Ruston, Ava, MO, Jan Ruston & Scott, Johnny Ruston & Hye Sun, Las Vegas, NV, Judy & Johnny Chapman, Nixa, MO, James & Wendy Ruston, Clovis, CA and a grandson, whom she adopted and raised, Gary Ruston, serving in Iraq with the U.S. Army, one step-daughter, Betty Ruston, Jacksonville, FL, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, four brothers, Donald Ward, Halls, TN, Bobby Ward, Ozark, MO, Franklin Ward, Dyersburg, TN and Ed Ward, near Little Rock, AR and a host of other relatives and friends.

Service for Dorothy will be Thurs., 10:00 A.M., Sept. 20, 2007 at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with Brad Smith officiating. Visitation will be Wed. from 6 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Graveside will be Friday, 2:00 P.M., Sept. 21, 2007 at the Antioch Cemetery, Halls, TN with Phil Meeks officiating. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
