Doss EJay Curtis, 60 years passed to heaven on January 31, 2013 at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, MO.

Doss was born January 24, 1953 in Gainesville, MO to Lawson Clayborn and Thedith Violet (Arnett) Curtis.

Doss was a resident of the Ava community and was a Mechanic for several years with Bob Berry at Gentryville Garage.

On April 3, 1974 Doss and Janice Beard were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union three children were born. He was a Christian and a member of the Souder Church of Christ.

Doss enjoyed fishing, reading, telling stories and building toothpick houses. He loved being with his children and grandchildren.

Doss was preceded in death by his parents, ten brothers and sisters, Elzada Souder, Ada Riley, Artie Martin, Glenda Mae Anson, Judy Presley, Joyce Berry, Jackie, Jerry, Marvin and Dean Curtis and an infant grandson, Dustin Chambers.


Doss is survived by three children, Shelly Curtis, Brixey, MO, Shena & Travis Brown, Mtn. Grove, MO and Willie & Christal Curtis, Ava, MO, six grandchildren, Kelli, Farrah, and Alley Chambers, Brianna Curtis, Shelby Etchoe and Devin Brown, one brother, Russell Curtis, Ava, MO, two sisters, Jean Bell, state of Florida and Louise Harp, Aldridge, MO, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Graveside services for Doss will be Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the Souder Cemetery, Souder, MO. Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2013 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be E.J. Hampton. Memorials may be made to Souder Cemetery.
