DOUGLAS LEON JONES
GASSVILLE, AR

Douglas Leon Jones, the son of Wendell Marshall Jones and Tena Hazel (Snelson) Jones was born July 15, 1943 in St. John, KS and departed this life December 7, 2008 at the age of 65 years, 4 months, and 22 days.

Douglas' family moved to Wasola, MO when he was a small child where he attended elementary school and church services at the Oak Grove School and church where he was baptized at age 12. He graduated from Ava High School in 1961 at the age of 16. He worked locally for some years, worked in and around Kansas City, MO and in Peoria, IL for Caterpillar Corp. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from April 1965 thru April 1967.

On December 30, 1976, he married Linda Polovich who helped him make a good home for his small children. Douglas and Linda spent most of their married life in Gassville, AR where he worked as a sheet metal worker. Over the years he was blessed with seven grandchildren.

Douglas is survived by his wife Linda of the home; one son Dwayne and wife Christine Jones and their five children Hailey, Scott, Christianna, James, and Emma all of Gassville, AR; one daughter Denise and her two children Mercedes and Faith; one brother John M. Jones and wife Charlene of Gassville, AR ; two sisters and their husbands, Maxine and Voyne Stewart of Blue Springs, MO, and Gloria and Gary Evans of Noble, MO; a special nephew Kenneth Heriford; a special niece Deborah Miller; other beloved nephews, nieces, and several life-long friends.

Douglas was preceded in death by and infant daughter Cheryl Lynn Jones; his parents; two sisters Beverly Bernice (Heriford) Glover and Hazel Norena Jones; and one brother Robert Athel Snelson.

Services will be 10:00AM on Friday, December 12, 2008 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO with Ron Pinckney and Bill Walls officiating. Interment will be the Oak Grove Cemetery at Wasola, MO. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Baxter County, AR.
