Douglas Wayne Mitchell, 38 years, passed to heaven on May 20, 2010 at St.John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, MO.

Doug was born January 25, 1972 in Springfield, MO to Donald Ross and Roxie (Essary) Mitchell.

Doug was a Truck Driver. He was a resident of Springfield, MO most of his life moving from Bradleyville, MO. On June 3, 1995 Doug and Barbara Brannon were united in marriage in Springfield, MO. Doug was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ also in Springfield. He had served as a volunteer firefighter at Ebenezer, MO. He loved riding motorcyles and loved animals, especially dogs. Doug also enjoyed fishing, hunting, storm chasing and being with his friends and family. Doug was a very generous person and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross and Bernice Essary, Marshall and Geneva Mitchell and Eulah Mitchell and his special dog, Pugsley.


Doug is survived by his mother and father, Roxie & Donald Ross Mitchell, Springfield, MO,one sister and husband, Debbie and Dwain Hoagland, one brother and wife, Melvin and Teri Mitchell, all of Springfield, MO, his wife, Barbara Mitchell, Bentonville, AR, one step son, Jimmy Phillips, Halltown, MO, two nieces, Ashley & Bethany Mitchell and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Doug will be Monday, May 24, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Bethel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Fair Haven Children's Home, Strafford, MO.
