Edith Dortha Maggard

Edith Dortha Maggard was born July 23, 1922, in Ongo, MO. She was the second child of Cleveland and Stella (Nelson) Maggard.
She left Ozark Riverview Manor, Ozark, MO, Tuesday morning August 21, 2012, to dwell in her home in Heaven forever.
Edith was a lifelong resident of Douglas County. On October 24, 1942, Edith and Troy Maggard were united in marriage in Ozark, MO, and to this union two children were born.
She retired from Fasco Industries in Ozark, MO, where she had worked for several years. Edith was a member of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church at Highlonesome. After accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior she was baptized into the church by Bro. Caleb Maggard on Nov. 4, 1945. She had also been a school teacher at Breedon and Highlonesome Elementary Schools. Edith was a loving and very much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to all who knew her.
Edith was preceded by her parents, her husband, Troy in 2003, three sisters, Eula Shortt, Goldie Filbeck and Bernice Reaves, two brothers, Hosea and Kenneth Maggard.
Edith is survived by two children and their spouses, Barbara & Bob Day, Ava, MO, and Loren & Hazel Maggard, Oldfield, MO, five grandchildren, Lisa Ellison, Leslie Maggard, Bobbi Hicks & Rodney, Lee Maggard & Chelsea and Adam Day, eight great grandchildren, Cody, Sarah, Brittany, Tiffany, Morgan, Eli, Hunter and Stetson, two great-great grandchildren, Wyatt and Tyler, two brothers, Melvin Maggard & Mildred, Springfield, MO, and Edwin Maggard & Pauline, Rogersville, MO, one sister, Janet Cokley, Springfield, MO, a very special sister-in-law, Iona Maggard, Oldfield, MO, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other friends and relatives, including her dearly beloved church family.
Although we will miss her so very much, we want to thank God for the 90 years He left her here, and we praise His name for the assurance this dear one left us that Heaven was her eternal home.
Funeral services for Edith will be Friday, August 24, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Ava, MO, with burial in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Keith Lafferty. Memorials may be made to Mt. Olive Cemetery.
