Edith Smith passed away early Saturday morning, April 5, 2008 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was 79 years old. Edith was born on February 22, 1929 in Elizabeth, Arkansas one of seven children born to Frank and Nellie (Byam) Donley. On July 7, 1952 she married Harla Smith in Elizabeth, and then the couple moved to Ozark County. They bought the farm in Isabella, Missouri were her family still lives today. Edith loved the simple pleasures in life. She especially enjoyed sewing and gardening and being outdoors, but several will remember her smiling face as a cook at Lutie School. She loved her job there and undoubtedly touched many hearts over the years.
Edith is survived by her son Dale Smith of Isabella, MO, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her brothers Austin Donley of Thornfield, MO, Eldon Donley of Theodosia, MO, and sister Margie Graham of Thornfield, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Nellie Donley, husband Harla Smith, son Darrell Smith, and three brothers.
Funeral services for Edith Smith will be held Monday, April 7, 2008 @10 AM at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Halbert Smith officiating. Burial will be at Isabella Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, April 6, 2008 from 2-4 PM at the funeral home.
