Edna D. Currier

Edna Dona Currier, daughter of John L. Turner and Lillie Mae Shipley Turner, last living one of ten children, was born on January 15, 1910 in
Douglas County, MO at Girdner and passed from this life on May 11, 2007 in Ava, MO at the age of 97 years, 3 months and 26 days.
Edna lived most of her life in the Ava community where she was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband, Oscar. Edna attended grade school at Excelsior School. She lived in Bettendorf, Iowa for a few years and worked in a greenhouse.
On Jan. 27, 1926 Edna and Oscar Currier were united in marriage in Douglas County, MO and to this union two sons were born. She returned to the Ava community in 1958. Edna was a member of the Sweden Church.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oscar in 1973, a grandson, Floyd Lee, six sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Howard Currier and wife, Florence of Bettendorf, Iowa and Floyd Currier of Ava, MO, seven grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends that called her "Granny."
Service for Edna is Tuesday, May 15, 2007, 2:00 P.M. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with the Rev. Robert Grisham and Rev. Don Graham officiating. Interment will follow in the Sweden Cemetery. Visitation is Monday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Family requests memorials to the Sweden Cemetery.
