Edward J. (Red) Davis

Mr. Davis was born on July 17, 1933 in Elida, Ohio and passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the age of 81 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, AR after a long battle with health related issues.
He was the son of Adrian & Viola Ford Davis. He and his wife Karen were married in August 1954 in Lima, Ohio and had recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. Red & Karen raised their family of 5 children in Northwestern Ohio until 1976, afterwards they moved to Gainesville, MO to begin farming and be near to his parents who had moved from Elida, Ohio to Zanoni, MO. Their sixth child, Penny was born in Mountain Home, AR in 1976.
Red served in the US Navy during the Korean War where most of his time was served between Norfolk, VA and Havana, Cuba. He also was a tree trimmer for Ohio Bell Telephone Company and an owner/operator over-the-road truck driver for several years traveling mostly between Cleveland, OH & Chicago, IL He had worked for Fruehauf Mfg in Delphos, Ohio from about 1967-1970. After moving to Gainesville he worked as an auto mechanic for the Amyx Ford dealership. Over the last years of his life, Red was mostly known in the Missouri Ozarks for his agriculture machine shop E & K Ag Products where he manufactured diesel engine sleeve pullers.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas and both his parents.
Survivors include his wife Karen Davis in Gainesville; daughter Jennifer Waltmire in Strafford, MO; daughter Patty Powell in St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada; daughter Kathy Mead in Theodosia, MO; son William (Bill) Davis in Gainesville, MO; son Walter Davis in Jackson, MO and daughter Penny Messick near Joplin, MO. His surviving siblings include a brother John Davis in Mtn. Home, AR; a brother Richard near Atlanta, GA; his only sister Naomi Aguiar near Savannah, GA and a brother Harry Davis in Lima, OH. Surviving extended family members includes 11 grandchildren, one step grandson and 8 great grandsons.
Red and his wife Karen became members of the Theodosia United Methodist Church. Red was also currently serving on the Ozark County Ambulance Board of Directors.
Final arrangements are being handled by Clinkingbeard Funeral home of Gainesville, Missouri.
