Edward Preston "ED" Johnson

Edward Preston Johnson , 61 years, 9 months, and 7 days old, passed away on April 29, 2023 at his home from a long illness with family by his side.

Ed was born July 22, 1961 in Streator, IL to Loyd Edward and Imagene (Burch) Johnson.

He graduated from Ava High School in 1980. Ed was a veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1980 to 1983.

Ed worked as a carpenter and later as a logger.

He was a Christian and was saved at the Men's Encounter a few years ago. He enjoyed hunting and target shooting. His siblings said he absolutely loved gardening and canning! Ed was loved by his family and he adored them.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Imagene.

He is survived by his three sisters and their spouses, Donna Jean & Ron Heckler, Celina, OH, Dianna Neal and Ricky, Ava, MO and Billie & Dwight Schuster, Tipton, MO; one brother, Tom & Paula Johnson, Verona, MO; nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; other relatives and friends. Also survived by his niece, Rebecca whom lovingly cared for him when he was ill.

A Celebration of Life will be Friday, May 5, 2023, 10:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with full military honors by the Troy Herd American Legion 112 and U.S. Air Force Detail at the Chapel with Pastor Buddy Boyd officiating. A visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to service time.
