Elaine Faith Coonts

Elaine Faith Coonts, 73 years, passed to heaven on October 13, 2014 at her home with her family by her side from a battle with leukemia.

Elaine was born February 17, 1941 in Cortland, NY to James Norman and Thelma Ann (Overton) Fleming.

On October 16, 1976 Elaine and James Coonts were united in marriage in Buffalo, Iowa.


James and Elaine enjoyed retirement years in Ava, MO. She was a home healthcare worker. Elaine was a Christian and attended the Gentry Church in Ava with her husband, James.

Elaine enjoyed cooking, crocheting and most of all spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Elaine was preceded by her parents, her husband, James and a daughter, Lorrie Lynn Brown.

Elaine is survived by three children and their spouses, Brian & Suzanne Brown, Oak Harbor, WA, Melissa Marie & Jeff Howell, Strafford, MO and Serena & Stacey Shadwick, Nixa, MO, four step children, Debbie Geeding, Pam Reed, Jim Coonts and Kevin Coonts, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several step grand and step great grandchildren, four sisters, Eleanor, Ethel, Marcina and Christina, two brothers, Rick and Jim Fleming, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Elaine will be Thursday, October 16, 2014, 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with a visitation prior to at 9:00 a.m. to service time. Cremation will follow services per Elaine's wishes. A family burial of her ashes will be at a later time in the Denney Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Riley Hall. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Neighbor Helping Neighbor.
