Eldon "Bud" D. Hampton, 78 years, 7 months, 14 days old, passed away on February 8, 2018 at his home with his wife, Frances and family by his side.
"Bud" was born June 25, 1939 in the Goodhope community to Tommy and Cloah (Brake) Hampton.
Bud worked for Douglas county as a grader operator for over 20 years, he also worked on the farm raising hogs and cattle.
In February of 1961 "Bud" and Bonita Maxine Swearengin were united in marriage in Oldfield, MO and were blessed with five children. Bonita preceded in death in 1995. On April 25, 1998 Bud and Frances Gastineau were united in marriage at Eastern Gate Church.
Bud was a Christian and a member and deacon at Eastern Gate Church for many years. He enjoyed working on the farm and with the county, and greatly enjoyed playing and listening to blue grass music. Spending time with his family and especially his grand and great grand children was one of his greatest pleasures.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Bonita, a brother Earnest and son-n-law, Dennis Downs.
He is survived by his wife, Frances of the home, children, Jonetta Renee Brazeal, West Plains, Marvin Hampton and wife Peggy, Tommy Hampton, Mark Hampton, and Mike Hampton and wife Sherry, all of Ava, step children, Jenny Downs, Jim and wife Ginger Gastineau, both of Ava, Jackie Hairr and husband Steve, of Climax, N.C., 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings,Goldie Swearengin, Nixa, Lee and Wilma Hampton, Ozark, Arthur Hampton, John Hampton, and Roy and Carolyn Hampton, all of Ava, and many nieces, nephews, and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Bud will be Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Stillings Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. till 11a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor John Mitchell and Pastor Cub Lafferty. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Stillings Cemetery at the funeral home.
