ELLAMAE GERTRUDE SMITH
EllaMae Gertrude Smith, 84, of West Plains, MO passed away on December 30, 2012 at the NHC Healthcare Center in West Plains, MO. She was born on January 28, 1928 in Zanoni, MO the daughter of Jasper Lonzo and Ethel (Shipley) Allcorn.
EllaMae was a graduate of Dora High School. After graduation, she was united in marriage to Haston "Hack" Smith and they had six children. EllaMae went on to graduate beauty school and ran her own beauty shop in Attica, KS for many years. She later became an EMT in the same town before moving back to West Plains to be closer to her family. EllaMae enjoyed gardening, going to church, spending time with her family and music. She attended the First Baptist Church in West Plains.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Haston Smith; a son Marty Smith and an infant son Debral Eugene Smith. EllaMae is survived by four children Monty Smith of West Plains, MO, Ruth Ann Edwards of Zanoni, MO, Pat Schrimmer of Hutchinson, KS and Carma King of Wichita, KS; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel in Gainesville, MO with Mike Allcorn officiating. Burial will be in the Smith Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from Noon to service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Smith Chapel Cemetery.
