Elsie Nix

Ava, MO

Elsie Nix, daughter of Clarence Cumpston and Elsie (Silen) Cumpston was born on Jan. 13, 1924 in Whittier, CA and passed away on Jan. 27, 2009 in Springfield, MO at the age of 85 years.

Elsie was a resident of the Ava community. She was a homemaker.
She was married to George Murphy and he preceded in death and later she married Edward Abner Guthrie and he also preceded her in death.
Later she married John Nix and he preceded in 2008.
Elsie enjoyed going to the Ava Senior Citizens and playing Bingo. She also loved to quilt. She was a Christian and had attended church. She loved her family dearly and she was such a joy to be around. She will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, two sisters, Ellen Kasperoff and Wyoma Alexander.
She is survived by her children, Susan Carol Fare, Buffalo, MO, Fern Louise Crowe, Forsyth, MO, Gary Edward Guthrie, Fair Grove, MO, Christopher Barry Guthrie, Marshfield, MO and Spencer James Guthrie, Ava, MO, several grandchildren, one great grandchild, one sister, Marjorie Beck, Ava, MO and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Elsie will be Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, 10:00 A.M. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with Rev. Raymond Haden officiating. Interment will be in the Jackson Cemetery in Ozark County. Visitation is Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
