Elva Earnasteen (Fry) Clayton
Squires, MO

Elva Earnateen (Fry) Clayton the daughter of Rev. Louin Fry and Margaret "Delsa" (Coonts ) Fry was born Nov. 10, 1922 in Silverton, Missouri and departed this life Aug. 31, 2010 at the age of 87 years 9 months and 21 days.

Elva was a lifelong resident of area. October 1, 1937 Elva and Clifford Ralph Clayton were united in marriage in Wasola, MO and to this union three sons were born.

Elva attended Oak Grove School at Wasola. She was converted on Nov. 9, 1935 and joined the Oak Grove General Baptist Church at Wasola in the same year. She went there whenever the doors were open. She taught Sunday school for the pre-school for around twenty years. She also helped with Bible School. In later years she helped at Camp Piland.

She hand quilted for a number of years and did hand work and sold them at the farmers market.

Elva was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in l990, her son, Noah on Jan. 15, 2005 and a son , Edmond D. died Feb. 22, 1941 after living l9 days. Also preceding in death were her parents, her oldest sister, Lilliam Irene Clayton in 1989 and her youngest sister, Effia Louetta Johnston, in 2000. She is survived by one son, Louin Ray Clayton and his wife, Valerie of Squires, MO 3 grandchildren, Russell William Clayton, Sheri Ann Johnston, Thomas Louin Clayton,2 step grandsons, Jason and Kevin Robb, 2 great grandsons, Issac and Thomas Johnston, one step great-grandson, Nate and a host of other relatives and friends.

Elva said this "She believed in God, Jesus Christ. We can do all things with his help. Now friends, neighbors, children and loved ones, don't cry for me. I am gone to rest with God. See you in the morning. Sinner get ready'.

Services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 in the Oak Grove General Baptist Church at Wasola, MO with the Rev. Robert Roberts and Rev. Charles McFarland officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at the Church. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
