Emily Jane (Purtle) Burchell

Emily Jane Burchell, 72 years, passed to heaven on June 26, 2014 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, MO with her family by her side.

Emily was born January 21, 1942 in Norwood, MO to George Willard and Jessie (Robertson) Purtle. She graduated from Ava High School Class of 1960.

Emily was a resident of Ozark, MO moving from the Branson area. She was a retired Cook and Dietician. She had worked in the state of Washington and also the Branson area.

On Feb. 7, 1967 Emily and Clifford Wayne Burchell were united in marriage in Ava, MO. Emily lovingly helped raise her step-son, Clifford Wayne Jr.

She was a Christian and of the Penticostal Faith.

She enjoyed making quilts for the homeless, cooking, gospel music and watching old westerns on t.v.

Emily was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clifford Wayne Burchell and step-son Wayne Burchell, Jr.

Emily is survived by grandson Fletcher Burchell, Grand Saline, TX, four sisters, Zada Purtle, Ava, MO, Naomi Porter, Squires, MO, Nettie Hicks, Ozark, MO, Nina McCleary, Ava, MO, sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Nall & family, special friends, Charles & Nona Cottrell and many nieces, nephews, many special cousins and other relatives and friends.


Graveside services for Emily will be Tuesday, July 1, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield, MO. Officiating will be Rev. "Butch" McCleary (Brother-in-law) and Rev. Charles Cottrell. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
