Erma Lee Cudney, 80 years,
passed to heaven on August 21, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.

Erma was born April 11, 1931 in Pansy, MO to Roy and Kate (Nelson) Davis.

Erma and James Cudney were united in marriage on 12/24/1960 at Newton, KS. At the time of their marriage they resided in Kansas City, KS until 1992 and returned to Ava, MO to live. Erma was a devoted member of the Dogwood Nazarene Church for many years. She served as the church's historian, secretary, treasurer and pianist for several years. She loved music, singing, gardening, quilting and sewing. Her favorite activities were attending church singings, playing the piano, going on trips, quilting and sewing with her sister, Leora, cousin, Laura Nell and her best friends, Violet Lakey and Irma Lee Lupton. Erma was the strength and love to her family and friends. The words of our Lord Jesus Christ, family, friends, laughter and music, were the cornerstones of her life. All of those that were fortunate to be a part of her life's journey will be forever grateful of her presence.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, John Yager, one brother, Ronald "Chet" Davis, one sister, Leora Graham and her mother-in-law, Nellie Cudney.


Erma is survived by her husband, James Cudney, Ava, MO, five children, Charles L. Yager, Sedalia, MO, Charlotte L. Beattie, Olathe, KS, Cynthia "Cindy" L. Winslow, Wasola, MO, Christopher L. Yager, Sr., Ava, MO, Craig L. Yager, Ava, MO, two step children, Bruce Hill, San Marcos, CA and Faye Nell, State of Oregon, 16 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, two brothers, Robert & Florence Davis, Hugaton, KS and Max & Wilma Davis, Argyle, TX, one sister, Velma & Bill Duckworth, Nixa, MO and sister-in-law, Bonnie Davis, South Carolina, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends and the boys from K.C.

The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Judi Spears for the personal loving care that she gave to Erma during her illness and to the many friends, family, members of the Dogwood Nazarene Church and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for generous care and support.

Funeral services for Erma will be Thursday, August 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in the Dogwood Nazarene Church, Ava, MO with burial in the Goodhope Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Wednesday in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Peebles, Pastor Carl Ray and Adam Perry. Memorials may be made to to the family as a Love Offering or Dogwood Nazarene Church.
