Obituary

Ruby "Eugene" Gardner

Eugene was the son of Ruby Gardner and Verna (Prock) Gardner. Eugene resided for 65 years of his life on the farm where he entered into and departed from this life. He was born on May 29, 1932 and returned to his heavenly father on September 16, 2007 at the age of 75 years and three months.
Eugene was a resident of Souder, Missouri for most of his life. On June 5, 1950 he was united in marriage to Betty McConnell in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Together they operated an upholstery shop, but his true love was working on the farm which was the orginal homestead of his great, great grandfather.
He served others through church, 4-H and simply by being a good neighbor. A member of the Church of Christ, Eugene was a Bible teacher, song leader and deacon in the church. He was often known to be giving a helping hand to others. He served for many years as a 4-H project leader.
He enjoyed music in all of his life. He played numerous instruments, but is mostly remembered playing the guitar and singing.
Eugene is survived by his wife Betty Gardner; five children;: Carol (Gardner) Frazier of Gainesville, Mo., Karen Gardner of Kansas City, Mo., Ronald Gardner of Souder, Mo., Mark Gardner of Souder, Mo., and Michael Gardner of Gainesville, Mo. 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three sisters, one brother and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM, Souder Church of Christ with E.J. Hampton, Bob Hampton, and Lowell Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Souder Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Justin Frazier, Jarrod McCleod, Jonathan Frazier, Kailon Bell, Austin Gardner, Chris Ford, Colton Gardner, Andy Penrod, and Aaron Jacobs.
Congregational Singing lead by Fallis Frazier.
Memorials may be made to the Eugene Gardner Sch. Fund (Music related), Paragould Childrens Home, Souder Cemetery, and Community Hospice.
