EUNICE M. WRAY
Eunice M. Wray, 88, of Springfield, MO, passed away on May 5, 2011 in Springfield, MO. She was born April 26, 1923 in Pontiac, MO, the daughter of Albert and Delphia (Sanders) Hillhouse.
On May 18, 1942, she was married to Alva Wray at Gainesville, MO, and then moved to Los Angeles, CA, remaining there for the next seven years. Later the couple moved to Kansas City, MO, where she was employed by General Motors for 25 years and retired from Salaried Personnel, BOC-Leeds Plant in 1981.
At age 14 Eunice was saved, baptized and became a member of General Baptist church, Pontiac, MO. She was a charter member of the Kansas City First General Baptist church organized in 1951, now Lane Avenue. She taught a Sunday school class there until retirement in 1981. She then moved to Springfield, MO, transferred membership to First General Baptist church of Springfield and continued teaching. She also served on G.B. Women's Ministry Board for six years.
She is survived by her husband Alva, of the home. A special step-daughter and her husband Dorothy and Floyd Rhine of West Plains, MO. Dorothy discovered her father Alva Wray and wife Eunice in 1991. Since that time, Eunice and Dorothy have been the typical Mother/Daughter family; spending much time together shopping, visiting and just enjoying each other. Other survivors include one granddaughter Vicky Combs of West Plains, MO; two great granddaughters Anna and Shana Combs; two sisters Velta Jackson and husband Jack of Springfield and Wanda Loftis of Ozark; two brothers Darwin Hillhouse of Shawnee Mission, KS and Loren Hillhouse and wife June of Gainesville, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Delphia Sanders Hillhouse; a sister Bonnie Rae Hillhouse; a brother Gene Hillhouse; an infant brother and twin infant brothers.
Funeral services for Eunice will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2011 in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Gainesville, MO with Dean Trivitt and Jim Kinder officiating. Burial will be in the Pontiac Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 1 p.m. to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pontiac Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
