Everett Chisam, 89, of Ava, MO passed away February 3, 2010 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO. He was born January 12, 1921 in Isabella, MO son of Noah and Victoria (Whisnant) Chisam.
He lived most of his life in Ozark County. On September 13, 1941 he and Ella Friend were married. She preceded him in death in May of 1975. In 1942 Everett served in the Army til 1946. Most of his service years were in the Philippines. After the war he resided in Kansas City, MO and worked for Sheffield Steel before returning back to Ozark County to work on the farm. He loved being busy. He was a carpenter and served on the Lutie School Board. On November 22, 1976 he and Thelma Dooms were united in marriage. They moved to Ava, leaving the farm in Isabella, due to declining health in 2005.
Everett loved the rodeo, the St Louis Cardinals, and playing cards. He loved to help people and was a very hard worker. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Thelma of the home in Ava, MO; two step children Paul Dooms of Fordland, MO and Kathy and Mike Austin of Mountain Grove, MO; 5 step grandchildren; 13 great grandkids. Also survived by one brother Johnny Chisam of Kansas; Rena and Lloyd Lininger of Kansas City, MO; and Alene McDonald of Kansas City, MO; two sisters-in-law Bessie Chisam of Isabella, MO, and Nellie Chisam of Gainesville, MO; a host of nieces and nephews. He was very fond of two foster children Carmen and Coy Landsdown of Gainesville, MO.
He was preceded in death by both parents; three brothers Wes, Ed, and Olen; sisters Lorene and three infant sisters Beatress, Mimi, and Betty.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 8, 2010 in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Gainesville, MO with Jimmy Kyle and Robert Roberts officiating. Interment will be in the Isabella Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 PM to service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Isabella Cemetery and left at the funeral home.
