Obituary

Faye Louise Shaw, 94, of Gainesville, MO passed away September 28, 2018 at the Gainesville Healthcare Center. She was born February 6, 1924 in Bippus, IN to Harvey and Maude (Neher) Bolinger.

Faye was an expert seamstress who utilized her talents in many ways to help the community over many years. To quote her dear friend, Barbara Henegar, who was the former Administrator of GHCC, now living in Asheville, NC, "Faye was such a kindred spirit. She dedicated numerous hours sewing as a volunteer at GHCC. Besides mending buttons, zippers and hems, she mended peoples' memories. Many of the residents enjoyed sitting and watching her sew as it reminded them of watching their mothers and grandmothers. She always had kind words to say to them and often listened to the stories of their lives. The days that the sewing lady came were very special."
Many children in the community have been the lucky recipients of Faye's beautifully sewn Raggedy Ann dolls at Christmastime. The detail in the clothing was first class. Community volunteers and organizations distributed the dolls, so now the secret's out…sweet Faye Shaw made them!
During the last couple years, Faye took up drawing and watercolor painting and produced numerous framed pieces; mainly landscapes. She had a natural talent for drawing that was pretty impressive. Among other things, her father was an inventor and she acquired his talents. She could figure out a way to tackle many problems and come up with a fix.
Faye attended several local churches when her health permitted. She did very little driving the past several years which limited her attendance, but she died a Christian and loved her religious music.
Everyone in the community loved Faye's cheerfulness, big smile and sense of humor and feels her loss along with her family. She was unpretentious and kind and made many friends while playing cards and games with a weekly group and especially enjoyed Pitch, Skippo and dominos. She also loved to cook and trade recipes.
She is survived by her daughter Wilma, and her husband Bill Owens of Ramona, CA; her grandson, Steven and wife Meshawn Owens, and granddaughters Cierra and Michaela; and great granddaughter Marsi and husband Danny Gonzales all living in CA. Her other daughter, Barbara Seymour of Mountain Home, AR, her son, Gary Lowitz also in AR and numerous grandchildren and great children. A niece, Penny and her husband, Peter Rammer living in CA and their two children, Grant and Lauren, and a nephew, Barry Schneider in CA. A nephew, Ronny and wife Freda Mayfield of Ozark, MO and their daughter, Cheryl Mayfield; a niece, Gail and husband Gene Carter of Mountain Grove, MO and their children and grandchildren.
During Faye's period of declining health many friends, neighbors and members of the business community have been especially helpful and kind to her and her daughter from CA during recent visits. Many friends have taken handmade dishes including desserts to please her and raise her spirits. All this has been so appreciated and she was so fortunate to end her life living next door to an angel sent from above, Treva Warrick, who aided her in so many ways to obtain senior services and health aides and equipment Faye didn't know who to get on her own. Treva was also kind for finding Faye's little dog, "Angel" who was such a great companion for several years and then taking her into her home upon Faye's sudden death. The Gainesville Senior Center was so wonderful to deliver her "Meals on Wheels" plus regularly call to check on her condition.
No services are planned. A gathering to celebrate her life for family and friends will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville, MO.
