Fern G. Erskine, 101 years, 0 months, and 2 days old, passed to heaven on April 18, 2011 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO.
Fern was born April 16, 1910 in Ozark County, MO to Thomas Alexander and Matilda Nancy (Nance) Gardner.
Fern was a resident of the Ava community for several years moving from California. She grew up in Ozark County, MO. On October 30, 1945 Fern and George J. Erskine were united in marriage in Anaheim, CA. She worked during WWII with the U.S. Aircraft.
Fern was a Christian and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Ava. She enjoyed gardening, reading, attending church and visiting with friends and family.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George in 1988, a sister Lena Robinson and a nephew, Douglas W. Robinson.
Fern is survived by one sister, Juanita Murphy, Ava, MO, nephew,Russell Robinson, Mansfield, MO, niece, Carlyon Lane, Kansas City, MO, numerous great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Fern will be Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Souder Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Roberts. Memorials may be made to Souder Cemetery.
