FRANKLIN TAMIO FUJUNAGA
Franklin Tamio Fujinaga, 75, of Tecumseh, MO, passed away on February 11, 2011 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO. He was born on August 26, 1935 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Umejiro and Kiyoko Takaki Fujinaga.
Frank attended DeVry University and worked in R&D on vacuum tubes. He learned his philosophy of life through his training that earned him a 1st degree black belt in both Judo and Chung Moo Quan. Honor and respect were of major importance to him.
In 1970 he married Susan Kay Rosado to whom he remained married for the rest of his life. They had three children, Wendy, Frank Jr., and Misty. His home was always open to others and provided a source of stability where people were always allowed to be themselves. He loved food and his signature dish was teriyaki chicken.
A role model in his community, Frank worked in the Gainesville Food Pantry from 2006 to 2011 and enjoyed giving back to people. He was also active in the church in Gainesville, MO, where he was fondly called "The Food Pantry Nazi." Frank was a different kind of guy. Known by many, he terrorized everyone and they loved him for it. The more he teased you, the more you knew he liked you.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Umejiro and Kiyoko Fujinaga; and one brother James Fujinaga. He is survived by his wife Susan of the home in Tecumseh, MO; his three children, Wendy Fujinaga and husband Zack Palais of Seattle, Washington, Franklin Tamio Fujinaga Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Misty Fujinaga and husband Michael Arancio of New Orleans, Louisiana; one grandson Frank Michael Arancio; one brother Richard Fujinaga; three sisters Evelyn Ogata, Fay Agena and Dee Yamane; nieces and nephews Gail, Scott, Wendy, Bruce, Jane, Coleen, Sandra, Jennifer, Kimberly, Erin and Erik; and several other family members and friends.
A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Frank Fujinaga will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home chapel with Mike Dillin and Bobby Jo Wade officiating.
