Friederich Spreeuwers (87) passed away peacefully on August 2, 2021 following over a twenty year battle with cancer.   Known by some as Pastor Fred, Friederich Spreeuwers leaves many family and friends grieving his loss.  He was born December 1933 to Adda and Dirk Spreeuwers in the Netherlands.

At age fifteen Friederich traveled to the U.S. to live with family in Iowa and work on the farm.  One day while working on the farm, Friederich received a clear call to the ministry and decided to seek further education in the Bible. He attended American Seminary of the  Bible in New York. It was there that he met his sweetheart, June. Friederich and June married and moved to Toccoa Falls, Georgia where Frederich continued his Biblical studies at Toccoa Falls Bible College. While in Georgia they had a son, Frederick Richard. In 1960 Frederich graduated and the family began their ministry journey. First starting out as missionaries in the Netherlands. While in the Netherlands Friederich and June had a daughter, Katherine Rachel. A few years later the family returned to the U.S. to pastor a church in Providence, Rhode Island. Following God's guiding, Friederich and family pastored churches in; Union City, New Jersey; Sidney, Montana and Chicago, Illinois. It was while he was a pastor in Chicago, Illinois that Friederich retired from the ministry after 25 years. Friederich and June moved to Theodosia, Missouri and began retirement life. Despite being retired, Friederich once again found himself being a pastor of a church in Theodosia. In 2017 when the church closed, Friederich once more retired. Occasionally Friederich would come out of retirement and preach a sermon at Protem Community Church, the church Friederich and June attended until health concerns interfered with their desire and ability to attend. Friederich's greatest desire was for all he met to come to know the Lord whom he served so faithfully.

Friederich is survived by; his wife June (Swancott) of almost 63 years, his son Frederick Spreeuwers and wife Marsha, his daughter Katherine (Spreeuwers) Stranberg and her husband David. Grandchildren; Andrew Spreeuwers, Steven Spreeuwers (Taylor), Tiffany (Spreeuwers) Hanson (Eric), Joel Stranberg and Jared Stranberg. Great grandchildren; Tevin, Jacob, Alexander, Peyton, Drew, Jace, Norah, and Sydney. Friederich was preceded in death by; his parents, Adda and Dirk Spreeuwers; his older brother Koos Spreeuwers and younger brother Gesines Spreeuwers and many other family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at Protem Community church Hwy 125 and Elbow St. on Monday, August 9th 2021 at 3:00 p.m.  Followed by a time of fellowship. The family requests all those that attend to please mask and social distance.
