Alberta Myers

Ava, MO

Gertrude Alberta Myers, 73 years, 5 months, and 14 days old, passed away on January 28, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.

Alberta was born August 14, 1937 in Webb City, MO. Her parents were Herbert and Bessie (Cowan) Waters.

Alberta was a resident of Ava most of her life. She graduated from Ava High School. She had worked for years with her family at Waters Greenhouse in Ava.
On Oct. 9, 1958 Alberta and Bobby Joe Myers were united in marriage in Ava, MO and to this union five children were born.

Later on, Alberta was blessed to have a loving partner, Frank Fleetwood. He preceded her in death.

Alberta was a Christian and a member of the Dogwood Nazarene Church. She was a devoted loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed working puzzles, music, going to Silver Dollar City with family and most of all being with her grandchildren.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert & Bessie Waters, one sister, Bessie, three brothers, Sonny, Bob & Johnny Ivy, her partner, Frank Fleetwood, two grandsons, Joshua Myers and Brandon Joseph Myers.


Alberta is survived by five children, Linda Woods, Ava, MO, Robert Myers & Lacey, Belton, MO, Myra Lawrence & Warren, Baconton, Georgia, Randy Myers, Blue Springs, MO and David Myers & Mirani, Harvest, Alabama, twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one on the way, two brothers, Roy Waters, Ava, MO and Ralph Ivy, Tulsa, OK, two sisters, Della Boak, Borge, TX and Linda, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Alberta will be Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Oren Alcorn.
