Gene Edward Ackerman, 64 years, passed away on April 14, 2010 at his home in Ava, MO.
Gene was born October 11, 1945 in Marysville, KS to Leonard and Eva (Stiverson) Ackerman.
In October of 1974 Gene and Brenda Harris were united in marriage in Lawrence, KS. Gene was a Veteran and served as a Marine in the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired Cable Technician for 32 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Lawrence, KS. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Marysville, KS. Gene and Brenda was a resident of Ava, MO for six years moving from Lawrence, KS. He enjoyed hunting, farming, fishing and just about everything in the outdoors.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dale Ackerman.
Gene is survived by his wife, Brenda Ackerman, Ava, MO, three sons & their spouses, Todd & Jada Ackerman and Timothy & Amy Ackerman all of Marysville, KS, and William & Meggan Ackerman, Nebraska City, NE, seven grandchildren, one brother, Leon Ackerman, North Glen, CO.
Cremation services for Gene are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Gene's ashes will be scattered by his family at a later date and time. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
