Obituary

Goldie Thelma Miller, 89 years, departed this life on February 22, 2014 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, MO with her daughter by her side.

Goldie was born December 31, 1924 in Ava, MO to Audie Etzel and Izora Elnora (Carter) Jenkins.



On April 25, 1942 Goldie and Phillip Peterson were united in marriage and to this union a son, Phillip Wayne was born. A few years later, on March 24, 1945 Goldie and Joe Barnie Miller were united in marriage in Ava, MO by Rev. Leonard Silvey and to this union four children were born.



Goldie was a Christian and when able, attended the Girdner Church. In her early life she worked at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS and was a machine operator on the shoulder pad line for Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava for many years. She was a great cook and enjoyed embroidering.


Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe, two sons; Phillip Wayne Peterson and Joe Pete Miller, great great granddaughter, Alya Grace Barcus, a step grandson, Chad Lee, step great grandson, Brady Lee, eight sisters; Dorothy Jenkins, Dolly Rezek, Delphia Denney, Viola Wilks, Ruby Miller, Ora Johnson, Lola Hake and Martha Lee Snider.


Goldie is survived by one daughter and husband, Reba & Don Nash, Ava, MO, two sons and their spouses; Jack & Connie Miller, Ava, MO and Jim & Brenda Miller, Squires, MO, eight grandchildren, one step grandson, 10 great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; four sisters and their spouses; Audrey & Jerry Huffman, Ava, Erma & Darold Overstreet, Redding, CA, Verda & Roger Komlo, Hayes, Virginia and Lorene & Don Byrd, Mtn. Grove, MO, a brother-in-law, Doug Hake, Wenatchee, WA, daughter-in-law, Jeannie Miller, Ava, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.


Funeral services for Goldie will be Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Whites Creek Cemetery at a later date. Officiating will be Rev. Freeda Holt. Memorials may be made to Whites Creek Cemetery or Neighbor Helping Neighbor.
